Chairman of the State Customs Committee Muratjon Azimov stressed that the organization successfully works to combat crime, in particular, in the prevention of illicit drug trafficking and has great practical experience and extensive capacities in countering organized crime.

"I see that the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev is actively implementing reforms in all spheres," said Yuriy Fedotov. - "I support the strict policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan on counteracting illicit drug trafficking".

The State Customs Committee is actively cooperating with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in a number of key areas. For example, from 2017 to the first quarter of 2019, more than 500 employees of the state customs service have been involved in various cooperative and foreign-based retraining courses.

The organization also contributes to the provision of border check points of the republic with modern technical and scanning equipment, equipment for detection of drugs, video surveillance and protection facilities.

During the meeting, Executive Director Yuri Fedotov noted that the strict policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan on combating drug trafficking is well-recognized by the international community.

It is also a clear confirmation of the above-mentioned fact that the authorities of the State Customs Service had prevented illegal turnover of more than 440 kg of narcotic drugs and in 84 cases thousands of psychotropic drugs between April 2017 and 2019.
