During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in the field of customs.
It should be noted that a number of intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements signed up between the two countries serve as a solid legal basis on customs cooperation.
In particular, the Agreement between the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the State Customs Service under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on creation of simplified procedure for customs operations ("Simplified customs passage") between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, concluded on December 13, 2017 takes up mutual cooperation to a new level.
As a result of these agreements, active cooperation has been established in the areas of customs control, exchange of information on moving goods and means of transport across borders, revealing smuggling and customs offenses, combating illicit trafficking of weapons, explosives, psychotropic and narcotic drugs.
Especially in recent years, the active efforts of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoev aimed at strengthening close and friendlyly relations with the neighboring countries have found a practical expression in the customs sphere.
Only in 2018, 5 working meetings with the participation of heads of regional customs departments in the border areas of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan were organized and issues were discussed thoroughly.
At the meeting with the ambassador, the issue of restoration of the Kensay checkpoint in the Novkent district of Kyrgyzstan, which was suspended in 2016, was thoroughly discussed. Over the years 2011-2015, over 75,000 citizens and more than 2,2 thousand vehicles have been driven through the checkpoint "Uchkurgan" in the Namangan region.
The reconstruction of the Kensay checkpoint will bring to the regulation and significant reduction of the flow of individuals and vehicles moving through the Dustlik customs border post in Andijan.
As a result, the time spent on customs control and clearance will be further reduced.
The meeting was held in a friendly and open spirit.
