Customs officers uncovered a jacket and carpet soaked with heroin

In particular, several attempts to smuggle drugs into the country using winter jackets and rugs through Surkhandarya region were revealed.

The actions of N.A., a citizen of a neighboring state, who entered the Ayritom border customs post on foot attracted the attention of the staff of the Combating smuggling and customs audit department and the employees of the post. During a personal examination of the citizen in the presence of attesting witnesses, it was discovered that he had a drug "heroin" soaked inside of his jacket.

M.N., a citizen of a neighboring state who later entered the post, was also awaiting the fate of his former partner. He tried to smuggle heroin not only inside of his jacket, but also in the rug he was carrying in his bag. The vigilance of customs officials thwarted the "innovative" efforts of these offenders.

According to the results of the examination, substances in jackets and the rug seized from the offenders as material evidence were found to be "heroin" with a net weight of 1 kilogram 685 grams.

At present, the customs authorities have initiated a criminal case under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and the investigation is underway.
